Welcome to my first, official blog post! Before I get into posting my content, I wanted to do a lil introduction into who I am, why I’ve started this blog, what I’ll be blogging about, and the reasons behind my blog name.
As you may (or probably not) have read in my ‘about’ section, my name is Sasha, I’m 21 and I’m from the East of England. I’ve recently graduated university with a BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology, Psychotherapy and Counselling and have started my first full-time job – just for the record, being an adult is not particularly fun. The overall goal I’m working towards is to do my Masters degree and become a Forensic Psychologist within the police, but before that, I’m working for this next year to save up, interrail across Europe with my girlfriend Leona (no doubt you’ll see many posts about this when I go!) and move into our own apartment together.
The main reason that I’ve started this blog is to find a way to get my thoughts down on ‘paper’, and hopefully by helping myself, I’ll be able to give some advice or help someone else in the process. I also wanted something to focus on and help me wind down when I come home from a long day at work – I’ve done karate 14 years and I’ve done dance for a long time too, but I fancied having something else to do in my spare time whilst I’m chilling, especially as it’s coming into the winter months now. There’s no topics that I’ll be writing about in particular, but the topics I’ll cover are likely to be based on lifestyle, travel and generally other experiences or trips that I’ve been on that I feel people might be the tiniest bit interested in.
My site address (“changingthesails”) is based on a quote – “you can’t change the wind but you can change the sails”. Basically, you can’t change the situations that you end up in, but you can change how you view it and where you let it take you from there. I’ve made/had a lot of changes in my life lately, and although it’s been hard, I keep trying to make sure I see a positive in every situation.
That’s it for my first post, but keep an eye out for my next (and first real piece of content) in the next few days!
See you on the flip side,
